The Importance of Open Source Framework

Some web development companies will be evasive about the the framework they use, or use a completely proprietary framework that only that company knows how to use. This means if you decide to leave that shop, you need to completely remake your application using an open sourced framework, or hope your new development partner can figure out the proprietary framework of the previous company. In either scenario, this costs you plenty of time and money, and it's not how any reputable company does business.

What We Use

We're up front with the framework we work with, and go over the advantages of our framework with our clients before we begin work. Because it's open source, any developer in the world has full access to every change, bug fix, and new additions made to the framework. We've been using a framework called phpOpenFW - an incredibly robust MVC PHP framework that builds highly structured, versatile web applications and websites. phpOpenFW uses the most modern standards, like XSLT, XML, HTML, XHTML, and CSS. This framework has enabled web developers around the world to work quickly and efficiently to develop some impressive web applications for companies in a variety of industries. We've been utilizing this framework for years, and have found the frequent updates, ease of use, and simplicity of the framework to be incredibly effective for our clients' use.

Check It Out For Yourself

One of the advantages of phpOpenFW is the extensive resources available to developers utilizing this framework. Relatively extensive documentation is available to notify developers of changes and updates, streamlining the development process. Feel free to browse the framework on GitHub and on the emonlade website. If you're intrigued and would like to download the framework for yourself, you can do so here. Give it a spin and see what you think!

If you'd like to speak with one of our developers to discuss the advantages of this framework, or if you want advice for choosing the framework for your next web development project, drop us a line via email. We'd be happy to talk to you about your next project and point you in the right direction. As always, consultation is completely free.
